La Victoire Suprême du Coeur (now closed)

This place calls itself 'végéchic'.  The prices are steep, but the food is delicious and the area lovely.

If you're in Paris as a tourist, the Victoire Suprême du Coeur shouldn't take you out of your way. It's located just off the Rue de Rivoli, in the Marais. This means that there are lots of nice but slightly pricey bars nearby for pre- or post-dinner drinks. Or both.

The restaurant itself is on a quiet street, and has a pretty glass frontage, so you can watch the world go by while you eat, or watch people eat while you go by.

The menu is pretty small, but that's not at all a bad thing. It's EXTREMELY vegan-friendly. any non-vegan items on the menu are marked with an asterisk, and on my last visit there were none.

This place does a pretty damn good seitan-based veggie burger, which comes with chips and salad. Sometimes it's served on an English muffin. Pick it up and eat it, please! Some of the items on the menu sometimes seem like that chef is trying a little too hard to be zany, but stick to the simple stuff and you should get a really tasty meal. There are also loads of vegan desserts, which are so hard to come by in Paris that you absolutely have to have one!

The waiting staff is kind of strange, but friendly. There's one waiter who's lovely but has really horrid bad breath.

They seem to have recently started serving real, alcoholic wine alongside the disgusting alcohol-free stuff which I sadly tried recently. They also do a great variety of fresh smoothies and juices which they seem to make to order.
